Keynote Speaker

Passion and purpose, that’s what my life is all about. And nothing gives me more satisfaction than detailing the many life lessons I’ve learned. Lessons I hope, others will learn from.

A problem shared is a problem halved

That’s one of my Mum’s favourite sayings. And it’s a message I promote to anyone who’ll listen – keep talking and keep listening.

Why a Keynote Speaker?

I firmly believe our experiences and stories define us. Part of so many people’s story, including my own, is loss.

Losing family, friends, colleagues, anyone who has impacted on us in a positive way, is heartbreaking and life changing. But – and this is a big but – it’s not the end. Our losses don’t have to define who we become, or who we are. So many stories and experiences, including my own, are raw, honest, and yes, for our family, life changing.

That doesn’t remove hope and resilience from my personal equation, and this is never more evident than in my work as a Beyond Blue Ambassador. In over a decade of involvement there’s one constant when I share and speak out in a public forum, and it’s a telling one. People always say ‘thank you for sharing your story’.

We get one life, and it’s short and precious – so for our own benefit, and that of all those we interact with in that crowded span, let’s make the most of it. It’s true we can’t as individuals change everything but why not try?

Whether it’s just for ourselves, or for the people and environment we are involved with, anything is possible with hard work, passion and purpose.

Five are in intensive care. No idea when – or if – they'll make it home.

To anyone who still thinks this only affects older people:

It doesn't.
